What is a Modchip and what is a Firmware Flash?

Simply put, a Mod Chip is a chip that gets soldered inside the console which gives your console the ability to play copied games. This is Legal in Canada providing you already own a copy of the game. A Firmware flash is how the XBox360 is able to read copied games. Basically there are no chips and no soldering required. Instead, your XBox360 Drive has a controller chip that can have it's code over-written to accept copied games. BOTH modding formats void any manufacturer warranty.
